Clinical Expertise
Dr. Falkenstein is a Staff Psychologist at the McLean Hospital OCD Institute, where she runs therapy groups. She specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for adults with obsessive-compulsive related disorders and anxiety disorders, with areas of expertise in OCD and trichotillomania. She is currently leading the Managing Perfectionism group at CPG.
Training
Dr. Falkenstein received her BS in Psychology at University of Maryland before completing her PhD in Clinical Psychology at American University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Southwest Consortium Doctoral Psychology Internship, where she trained at the New Mexico Veterans Affairs Health Care System and Indian Health Service. She then completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship at the McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School OCD Institute.
Research
Dr. Falkenstein’s primary position is Administrative Director of the research program at the McLean Hospital OCD Institute, the Office of Clinical Assessment and Research. She is also an instructor in psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She has received funding from the International OCD Foundation, Harvard Medical School, and McLean Hospital to study cognitive and behavioral processes underlying OCD and related disorders.
