Clinical Expertise

Dr. Strickland is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in treating anxiety, relational issues, stress management, and life transitions. She is a proponent of the biopsychosocial model that emphasizes the interconnectedness of physical, mental, and relationship health. Dr. Strickland draws upon her foundational knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based approaches to tailor treatment to meet her client’s unique needs. She brings warmth, compassion, and humor into each session to create a strong therapeutic relationship and help alleviate the struggles and pressures of daily life. Recognizing that each client is the expert on themselves, Dr. Strickland’s primary goal as a therapist is to work collaboratively with each client to help them reach their personal goals and make meaningful life changes.

Training

Dr. Strickland received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Florida Institute of Technology. She completed her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Rochester Medical, where she gained experience in integrated behavioral healthcare and worked extensively with adults presenting with mood disorders, anxiety, substance abuse, personality disorders, and trauma. After completing her formal training, Dr. Strickland worked as a therapist and clinical supervisor at Presence Wellness, a multidisciplinary wellness center located in Austin, TX. During her time at Presence Wellness, she discovered a newfound passion for working with couples while receiving additional training in couples therapy.
